Knowing the best spots, according to Yelp, means you’re never far from perfect tortillas, sizzling fillings, and salsa that keeps locals and visitors coming back for more. Yelp’s Top 100 Taco Spots of 2025 — which includes eight Arizona restaurants — showcases the most popular taco trucks, counter-order spots, and restaurants across the US serving the best-tasting tacos, as ranked by Yelp data and community reviews.

Where Are Foodies Finding The Best Tacos?

California is taco country. Home to a whopping 45 top spots this year, California is setting trends for all kinds of tacos — including street-food styles that are popular in Mexico. The state also showcases its long-time-favored, seafood-forward Baja-style tacos, like at Michelin-starred, counter-order Holbox (#5) and from the garage and driveway of a private Los Angeles home, Mariscos El Chito (#10).

More top taco states: Texas, Arizona, and Hawaii. With nine spots on the list, Texas also boasts several taco styles, including increasingly popular plant-based tacos like the fresh nopales (prickly pear cactus) at Paprika ATX (#3) in Austin. Arizona ranks next with eight spots, often showcasing its famous Sonoran-style tacos (featuring open-flame-charred meats and veggies), like at Jalapeños Sonora Grill (#6) in Glendale. And Hawaii’s seven top spots lean into the state’s popular seafood-forward Baja styles or pork-forward Hawaiian fusion, like at Pit Stop Hawaii Food Truck (#20) in Honolulu.

6. Jalapeños Sonora Grill, Glendale, Arizona

A mesquite-fired indoor grill and an extensive self-serve salsa bar make for “extremely delicious” tacos “jam packed” with flavor at this family-owned strip-mall eatery. Sonoran Mexican cuisine — popular in Arizona — is known for its flame-cooked smoky flavors and grilled veggies, and this hotspot doesn’t disappoint.

Every bite of bestsellers like the Taco Sonora (steak, green chili, and melted cheese) and the Lorenza Shark taco (steak, tripe, green chili, and cheese) is “bursting with rich, homemade flavor.” The huge salsa bar is filled not only with traditional salsas and pico de gallo, but chili-lime cucumbers, pickled red onions, caramelized onions, pineapple and cilantro, banana peppers and onions, and other tasty accents.
