Scottsdale Among Top 5 U.S. Cities For Strongest Jobs Growth

Monster today released its Q1 2026 Monster Market Report, offering new insights into where employers are hiring, which roles job seekers are pursuing, and how hiring patterns are shifting across industries and cities. The report also identifies Scottsdale among the cities with the strongest jobs growth.

The report analyzes top job titles posted by employers, the most searched job titles by candidates, hiring trends across major occupational groups, and the fastest-growing city-level job markets.

While many sectors experienced the typical post-holiday hiring slowdown following strong year-end activity, the data highlights a growing disconnect in today’s labor market: the jobs employers are hiring for most do not align with the jobs candidates are searching for. At the same time, hiring timelines remain longer and employers are moving more cautiously, contributing to a more competitive environment for job seekers.

Job seekers are searching heavily for entry-level and frontline positions, while employer demand remains strongest for licensed healthcare professionals and specialized roles.

“Understanding both sides of the labor market helps job seekers focus their search and helps employers better understand where talent interest is concentrated,” said Vicki Salemi, Monster career expert.

Key Findings

  • Healthcare continues to dominate hiring demand: Clinical roles, including registered nurses and therapy specialists, account for the majority of top employer job postings this quarter.
  • Frontline roles dominate candidate searches:  Job seekers most frequently searched for warehouse, customer service, and administrative roles.
  • Sales and logistics roles show resilience: Truck driver and sales positions saw notable growth in employer postings, highlighting continued demand for supply chain and revenue-driving roles.
  • Hiring patterns reflect seasonal shifts: Some sectors, including transportation, technology, and healthcare specialties, saw declines compared with Q4, which often reflects post-holiday hiring adjustments rather than structural demand changes.
  • Hiring momentum continues in select metro areas: While major cities remain the largest hiring hubs, several mid-size markets saw some of the strongest quarter-over-quarter growth in job postings.

Top 10 Job Titles Posted By Employers

  1. Registered Nurse (RN)
  2. Truck Driver
  3. Physical Therapist (PT)
  4. Sales Representative
  5. Licensed Practical / Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN)
  6. Occupational Therapist (OT)
  7. Radiology Technician / Technologist
  8. Respiratory Therapist
  9. Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
  10. Customer Service Representative

Healthcare roles dominated employer demand this quarter, with multiple clinical and therapy positions appearing among the most frequently posted jobs. The continued demand reflects ongoing staffing needs across hospitals, outpatient clinics, and rehabilitation settings. Outside of healthcare, operational roles such as truck drivers and customer service representatives remained among the most widely posted positions, highlighting steady demand in logistics, sales, and customer-facing functions.
